Imladris Knittery

Welcome to my knitting blog!

My name is Olivia. I started knitting when I was about 10 years old, and I learned to crochet not too long after. I'm 28 years old writing this post, so a lot of the circumstances of how I learned are fuzzy. My mom taught me how to cast on and knit, and I learned the rest on my own

The first sock c. 2016, age 22. I was not an adventurous knitter as a child/adolescent, but I was persistent. Now I'll try anything!

I've never been a blogger, but I've always had a thing for writing. I think this will be a fun way to exercise that muscle a little bit and have a place to creatively infodump without worrying about my ability to speak to a camera. The Youtube thing is fun, but it's not my strong suit as opposed to just writing and taking photos.

Lately what I'm most excited about is that I'm really dipping my toes into pattern design. I've released two hat patterns (Cushy Slouch Beanie and The Good Bean) which I have on my Ravelry. I also have a handful of designs I am working through right now. I'm counting 3 samples and another on the way: 2 hats, a shawl, and a sweater.

I am most active on Instagram, followed by Youtube and Ravelry.

P.S. If you are curious about the name of the blog, it is inspired by Lord of the Rings. If you're unfamiliar, Imladris is the Elven name for Rivendell.

P.P.S. I'm going to incorporate this into my videos just as a fun little add-on (at the end so people can skip if they dgaf), but here is what I'm watching/listening to/playing/reading!

  • Watching: Game of Thrones (first watch) and Crazy Sock Lady on Youtube
  • Listening: Golden Hour - Kacey Musgraves and lots of upbeat new wave and 80s pop
  • Playing: Loddlenaut, Baldur's Gate 3
  • Reading: It by Stephen King

Goodnight for now!
