Early Summer Knitting Diary
Right now we are in the middle of a heatwave, yet I continue to knit. Something about the sun coming out makes me want to switch to colorful knits instead of stopping. So, I knit.
It has been a mix of relaxing and productive. I adopted the "purse sock" where I always have a sock available to knit on wherever I go, and at the same time I am working on multiple designs that are taking quite a bit of brainpower to make perfect. I imagine that the more patterns I create, the easier it will get. At the moment, I feel like Pooh at his thinking spot.
Today I finished knitting my third design, the Westfold Cap. It is currently on the blocking board, though it is already almost dry due to the heat.. and putting a fan next to it. I am hoping to get that into testing in the next week or so, but we will see how long it takes to finish grading. I like to include a lot of sizes when possible, but it does make it more challenging.
I am also on the second toe for my mermaid lagoon socks, but I decided that it will be a tomorrow problem and instead cast on another pair of socks. I'll be using the same pattern, but I'm using the Bi Pride yarn from Always Be Kind Yarn. I am hoping to get these done by August 10th, which is when my city celebrates Pride.
I am planning to post a video this week all about Black Sheep Gathering last Sunday, but I'll share some tidbits:
- I only ended up buying 2 skeins of yarn (well, one is a sock set but I'm counting it as one skein!)
- My only goal was stitch markers. Goal achieved thanks to Little Hawk Yarns and their adorable mushroom stitch markers!
- I came home with my Kindness Club June colorway
We also have our county fair coming up later this month, and several of us have submitted Emotional Support Chickens. They have even asked us if we can come in and hang out next to our entries and knit/answer questions. I signed up, so that will be a new experience for me
So.. a lot going on in my knitting world. If anyone is reading this, I would love to hear what you have going on this summer as far as knitting goes.
